The trouble with solo polyamory, in a word or two (Guest post by Lo Redkoan)

At my best, I sometimes say, “Well, if I gotta be alone at least I’m a helluva guy.” The problem is: at my worst I can only muster, “Well, if gotta be alone…”

I have avoided — and perhaps still am avoiding — considering solo polyamory Further, I have avoided its Facebook group and even writing this article. For while I may be a helluva guy, I may also be coward. (This is the kind of shit I say to myself, at my worst, all alone.)

If my post yesterday, I’m giving up on solo polyamory, it’s just too hard, left you despairing that I’d fled to the alleged security of mono-land, you should have double-checked the date.

Like the old man said: I’m not dead yet! Nobody gets rid of me that easily.

Not that I didn’t have anything to say, but I found myself prioritizing time in other ways for a while. Looking back over how I’ve spent my time in the past couple of months, I see it reveals some interesting things about what the solo poly identity and experience means to me and my life.

So here’s what’s been going on:

At this point I’m both “solo” and “single” — but mostly solo. What the hell does that mean?…

NOTE: This is one of a series of posts where I define how I’m using some key relationship terms in this blog. Other people may use these terms in other ways, but I’m trying to be clear and consistent in this context.
